Participate in a sustainable event focusing on the “sea” at Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store! Approximately 100 items are on sale, including “indigo dyed” items using natural indigo.

Participated in the sustainable event "GOOD VIBE FROM SEA -Creations Spreading from the Sea-" held at Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store. In addition to selling original indigo-dyed T-shirts, bags, and accessories made with non-standard pearls, our school's wide range of creations, from real to art, were showcased in the main space of the event, including exhibits of creative indigo-dyed works.

This time, the students who received a request from Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store worked on creating works that incorporated elements of modern fashion and design while making full use of traditional indigo dyeing techniques and dyes.

The works were displayed at the center of the festival plaza on the 9th floor for six days from June 14th to June 19th, among popular brands and unique brands made by professionals, and were well received by highly sensitive customers.

Prior to participating in this event, 3rd and 4th year Super Designer visited Kaiyo Town, Tokushima Prefecture, a traditional indigo production area. Over the course of two days, under the supervision of indigo dyeing producer Reki Nagahara, we thoroughly learned about the culture and handwork of indigo.

What is "GOOD VIBE FROM SEA -Creations that spread from the sea-"?

An event that begins with valuing the ocean and develops creations that reflect thoughts and thinking, as well as manufacturing that is considerate of nature, the environment, and people. The store was decorated with sustainable initiatives related to the ocean and items that allow you to have fun and enrich your soul through the ocean.

Mr. Reki Nagahara (@leki303ibb)

While promoting indigo dyeing, a traditional culture of his hometown, Tokushima, he is also active as a free surfer.
In 2016, he opened "in Between Blues" with the aim of developing indigo dyed products.
Currently, he is spreading the charm of his hometown and Japan's proud nature, history, and culture to the world, centering on Kukai Ai.

It was a very valuable experience that I hope to incorporate into my future manufacturing, such as learning traditional techniques unique to the production area and creating creations that consider the environment.
