Under the supervision of major apparel company TSI, we have set up a fully-fledged classroom equipped with a cash register, fitting rooms, back-of-store storage, etc., where students can learn more practical store operations and space creation.
Students will gain experience buying in Korea by utilizing the purchasing methods they learned in class. The products they purchase locally will be sold in a shop they set up themselves as part of their graduation project.
A business planning contest was held by the Fashion Business Society. Shujiro Iida (2nd year) and his team's plan, "Fashion Consulting Services for People with Physical Disabilities," won the grand prize.
In collaboration with the popular e-commerce site "own it," a pop-up store was opened at the Osaka Station underground passage "UMEDA 1 PARK." First-year students were involved in the planning, product selection, and sales themselves.
The aim is to work as a buyer or MD at select shops and department stores.
What is required of buyers and MDs is to read trends based on the store concept and seasonal theme, and sometimes even go to overseas fashion shows to conduct research in order to attract customers and create an attractive assortment of products that is different from other stores. Students will learn merchandising planning and product purchasing methods from both theoretical and practical perspectives, and after graduation, they will be able to work as staff members who understand store management strategies and distribution marketing.
