The final judging for the ``Tayama Atsuro Award High School Student Fashion Design Drawing Contest 2020'' sponsored by OSAKA INSTITUTE OF FASHION has ended. As a result of a rigorous review by the head judge, Mr. Junro Tayama, supporting companies, and our school faculty, we won the Grand Prix/Junro Tayama Award, 2 runner-up awards, 3 sponsoring company awards, a gold award, a silver award, and a school award. The award has been decided.

The winner of the Grand Prix Junro Tayama Award was Yufu Kajiwara (third year high school student from Okayama Prefecture). The semi-grand prize winners were Yakoto Taniguchi (Kyoto Prefecture, 3rd year high school student) and Natsuki Yamada (Gifu Prefecture, 2nd year high school student). The grand prize winner, Ms. Kajiwara, received a prize of 100,000 yen, the right to become a scholarship student OSAKA INSTITUTE OF FASHION A, and an additional prize from Junro Tayama.

This year, despite the coronavirus pandemic, we received 757 entries. We would like to once again express our deepest gratitude to the high schools for their tremendous support and cooperation in this contest despite their extremely busy schedules, such as coordinating classes and school events.

The award ceremony was originally scheduled to be held on October 25th, but in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, it has been canceled and will be announced on our website.

Regarding the general review of the 2020 contest ≪Mr. Junro Tayama, chief judge≫ The number of applications has increased from last year, and I felt the enthusiasm of the high school students. I think there were many elaborate works that used delicate and bold colors. There were many Grand Prix-level works.

About the Grand Prix Junro Tayama Award (Mr. Kajiwara) ≪Mr. Junro Tayama, Head of the Jury≫ The most important point was that the technique and way of expressing the picture, which was different from other works, caught my eye. I think this work is worthy of the Grand Prix.

Regarding the runner-up prize (Mr. Taniguchi) ≪Mr. Junro Tayama, head judge≫ The picture is drawn with a very delicate touch. As for the clothes, it was an interesting design drawing that combined interesting details. The drawings were also of a high level, and it would be no surprise if it won the Grand Prix.

About the runner-up grand prize (Mr. Yamada) ≪Mr. Junro Tayama, head of the jury≫ Although the winner was unique, it wasn't just the clothes, but the way he drew, his technique, and the way he expressed his pictures were dynamic.

About the Sponsorship Award and the WWD Japan Award (Mr. Mizoguchi) ≪WWD JAPAN.com Editor-in-Chief Kaname Murakami≫ I felt the positivity of living in a new era with nature. You can feel the eclectic Japanese and Western style, high and low mood, and I think it's full of the new generation's sense of seeing everything in a flat manner.

About the Sponsorship Award/Senken Newspaper Award (Mr. Ishii) <<Kengo Kishi, Senken Newspaper>> The work has a strong presence, and the design details are fine, so I wanted to see it in real clothes.

About the Sponsorship Award/KanFA Award (Mr. Matsumoto) <<Kansai Fashion Federation (KanFA)>> The design has an impact and the details are well drawn. The technique of spraying paint on the black background made the design stand out and gave it a sense of dynamism.
