Overseas training resumes one after another! Brand management students participate in training at New York State Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

Overseas training, which is a major content of global education that our school emphasizes, has been gradually resumed in each department.

Second-year brand management students were able to safely participate in the New York training in December, and third-year students from the same department in February, which had been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The training mainly consisted of special seminars at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), one of the world's leading fashion schools, and industry visits to showrooms of PR companies and long-established vintage shops. Experience the real fashion business first-hand.

At FIT, the first thing that is held is a lecture on the history of clothing. Explanations will be provided while actually showing archival works from each era. In the main lecture that follows, lectures are given on topics such as VMD and branding, and students tackle the challenges presented and formulate their own plans.

At the Costume Lab, which has a collection of 100,000 costumes and 1 million materials, curators will give lectures on the history of clothing. He explained the archives of Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga, Valentino, etc.

During the industry tour, participants visit PR company showrooms and long-established vintage shops to learn about the real industry situation.

At the end of the training, students presented their pop-up shop plans and brand plans. We will receive feedback from the professor. At the end of the course, each student was awarded a certificate of completion.

Of course, I enjoyed not only the training but also my free time. I was active in shopping and researching places like Times Square, SoHo, Nolita, Macy's Department Store, and Dover Street New York.

I also really enjoyed New York, visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the gorgeous Christmas displays.

In the brand management department of OSAKA INSTITUTE OF FASHION, training in New York is included in the regular curriculum in the second year. With the end of the coronavirus pandemic, educational content based on international standards to develop global human resources has resumed one after another. Please look forward to the success of OIF Students overseas.
